Spartan Mowers, Good? Bad? Not really ugly...
As always, we welcome your feedback and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Altoz 72" 37hp first cut review and pics! My real first review on here Messages: 2, Ok guys, before I start this I will say I am a cutter turned dealer. Not only did I become my own dealer, I have in the last few years become one of the largest volume out there I will say we are in ne texas so I have no pretty striping grasses we have dallas, bahaia which I cut todayst augustine which in most catagories is a weed happens to be one of our nicest This first cut was dallas and bahaia that in some places waist high with a fresh downpour just last nite.
Ok, I first asked about altoz after seeing pics, after researching the company called for a demo. Rep shows up in one of the wordt rains we have ever had, I still demoed in pouring down rain I get my parts box in first, bought everything I could think of that could go out.
Was blown away by the quality of each part and pricing, the parts were great and prices werent near as bad as you would think. Unloaded my first 6 this morning, loved how they were wrapped up on pallets and loved the attention we got today from them. Every lco that drove by called me on my cell and asked what the hell I had out front After filling up the tanks around 11 gallons I headed home to take the maiden voyage on my new 37hp dfi kawasaki xczi altoz.
Hands down the smoothest sickest most detailed mower in the industry. I was driving home thinking if this mower cuts as good as it looks I will have a homerun on my hands I noticed the neighbors dropped what they were doing and just stared weirdly at me I made my first 2 passes on my 3 acres with a half smile in low speed of course 19mph is definately not an option on my current yard I was blown away with the cut one of the best I have seen on my yard besides a zipper mower, but like the zipper mower gave me quite a bit of blow out from the front of the deck.
Ride is not quite as good as a ferris or bad boy xp with grammer seat, but alomst identacle to the gravely It didnt have the rattles I tend to hear on the scags, exmarks, gravelys from the deck hangers no sounds much like a bad boy. The precision you feel when driving this is amazing very smooth unlike the other machines with 's like the cheetah or bad boy outlaw.
Absolutely love the parker hydraulic deck lift very fast and smooth dial is great too. I wish you could see all the internals on this mower and the lazer cutting detail along with a frame unlike any other. Change oil, huge opening to the filter and the drain.By Paul Sikkema. Join the conversation on Facebook! I purchased a 6 acre property after mowing season was already over last year.
This is my first large property and I am in the market for a ZTR. There is a dealer within three miles of me that offers some great at home maintenance services that sells both Spartan and Hustler mowers. The dealer is really pushing the Spartan brand for my application.
They seem to have a lot of heavy-duty features found in much more expensive setups. I really like the reasonably priced plug and play accessories and the idea of getting a lot mower at their price point.
Apparently Spartan and Bad Boy are literally right next door to each other and had an ugly split. Have you tested any of the Spartans yourself? Hi Ben, This is the second season for Spartan mowers.
Spartan is an interesting marketing application. He then sprung them on the world at one-third the price of the current market. Will his equipment be worth the cheap cost? This a U. Mr Foster is building a solid dealer base with the parts and service to keep your machine running.
Spartan Mowers Makes a Splash
He has the vision, the resources and the business experience to make this work. In my experience buying a machine like the Spartan that has not had at least 2 full years of on-the-ground prove-design is not always the best choice for you.
Scag would design a machine on paper, build it, and then sell it at a lower price than anyone else. As problems arose with the design he would then fix it with recalls and updates. Starting out in the mowing business I owned a few of them because of the price.
I liked the mowers a lotbut was very frustrated about the down time. My dealer finally convinced me to buy an ExMark and guess what?
They spend years designing, testing and making sure the design works. As a Homeowner should you buy one? Also understand, with the recent Raven MPV hybrid mower debacle I am probably overly-cautious of recommending a new product from a new manufacture.
I looked at all the features, build quality and test drove it for few minutes. The mower is designed well and should last years.Log in or Sign up.

Looks like it's built like a tank Comes with a rough cut bush hog style deck and a finish mowing deck. You guys think this is cool, or gimicky? AeroEngiApr 25, Messages: 2, StanWilhiteApr 25, Messages: 7, Retail is 17k I think.
They have it on their site. Low volume speciality mower is going to have high cost. Diesel zero turns aren't that far behind. I would rather buy a tractor for what it's advertised forbut that's just me. AeroEngi likes this.

Messages: They had a very small spot at the GIE and only had a couple of mowers on display. I didn't see any outside at the demo grounds. They are visibly pleasing mowers, my question is, is the quality of cut going to be as visible pleasing?Spartan - V VS S Series - Epic Battle Simulator 2 Custom Battle
Will parts be easily available? Dealer support is non existent if you have no dealers. Jfly37 likes this. Messages: 3, Messages: 1, The Spartan mowers that are actually commercial are to This is in line with Badboy pricing. My experience with the Badboy Outlaw that I bought from Retrodog.
Was a lot more time in the shop. Which they seem to improving with the latest models. Would have been well worth it to pay the extra to for a GH, Scag, or whatever to not have all the downtime. The Spartan just took the look of the Altoz and are using Bad Boy pricing looks to me like. LibertyFarmLandscapingOct 25, Jfly37 and skle like this. Messages: 2, I know u saw a little more down time with your law, but I have many customers with 0 issues As many as I sell if they truely were inferior my shop woulda been burned down by now.
A company cannot sell over units this year if they all break down more often. I like to see all the improvements made when they realize the weak points. As far as the spartan, I see a really nice product and it addresses things the industry has never seen addressed at the unheard pricing of bad boy.
From a personal position I think it's pretty cut throat as I know at bad boy you can step out and physically see the intimadator plant. I know how family orientated these guys are so I am sure this is hitting hearts hard in Bb country.
I am sure there will be fist fights out in the parking lots over this From a business stand point, I believe the spartan will be a good product because Robert will make sure of it. I felt this man's passion when talking to him about the products at his previous plant. Anytime I went to pick up mowers I could find him actually in the plant working along side the guys.Buying Advice.
