It makes use of kustomize to customize the raw YAMLs for each environment. Almost every directory in the directory tree depicted below contains a kustomize.

This deploys a Jitsi setup consisting of two shards. A shard is a complete replica of a Jitsi setup that is used in parallel to other shards to load-balance and for high availability. The setup was tested against a managed Kubernetes cluster v1. The setup shown above contains only a single shard for visual clarity. Subsequent shards would be attached to the web service.

Load testing is based on jitsi-meet-torture which is a Java application that connects to a Jitsi instance as a user and shows a predefined video along with an audio stream by using a Selenium Chrome instance. To run multiple test users in multiple conferences a Selenium hub set up with docker-compose is used. Terraform scripts that set up the test servers with an existing image can be found under loadtest. An init script is used to provision the necessary tools to that image. This image also needs SSH access set up with public key authentication.

To access the installed Kubernetes Dashboard execute. Kibana is not accessible from the Internet and must be forwarded to your local machine via kubectl by executing. The default login password user elastic can be received with. The monitoring stack that is set up by this project is currently also used by an affiliated project for Big Blue Button.

This is an amazing solution, im planning to create several virtual machines on my environment for extra jibri servers but this seems to be much better.

I successfully deployed jitsi meet containers web,prosody,jicofo,jvb including jibri on ubuntu machine by setting up snd-aloop module in it. But in case of kubernetes aws providing only one AMI for nodes that is Amazon linux 2. In eks there is no option to use our own custom ami.

So Iam unable to setup snd-aloop module in amazon linux 2 machine. Any way now I got the answer that, why I am getting those errors in jibri logs. Thank you very much for your quick reply….

Do you find a solution? The problem was that not all audio settings were charged.I would like to ask if someone has experience deploying Jitsi-meet in the Kubernetes in Azure or Aws cloud. That is the ip address which you can use from Internet to access the machine where jvb is deployed.

This is the address the clients will use the send the media to. I have some issue with K8s, I can join to the room I can see participants but the media are not sent. I think this maybe similar case: Open ports NAT.

Just to close this thread, Jitsi was properly configured from the begining, the issue with group calls was caused by my lack of knowladge about the infrastructure. After small changes in K8s infra routing udp packets to proper K8s service everything is working as should be.

Maybe the issue is in different place. What exactly is not working? It is deployed in GCP. If two users connect to the meeting p2p is used and connection works. If third users connect just blank screens are shown no audio and video.

In a nutshell, ensemble. The number of people in need of a scalable videoconference solution being very high at the moment, it was our responsibility to find an alternative that was able to handle a significant load of video bridge requests. As shown in the architecture diagram below, all Jitsi instances are constantly monitored to keep track of their capacity.

This allows us to ensure that each user is provided with the least-used instance to create a virtual room and start a call. With that URL, a user can easily connect to the Jitsi server and start enjoying the call with an optimal sound and video quality. All Jitsi servers are deployed on Scaleway Elements Instances which can hold a large number of concurrent video bridges.

Now that we explained the general architecture and the typical user workflow of this application, let's see how it is deployed using infrastructure as code technologies. Terraform is an infrastructure tool that manages cloud resources in a declarative paradigm.

We decided to use the Scaleway Terraform Provider to manage all our infrastructure from a single versioned place.

Jitsi meet Kubernetes and Traefik

All changes applied to our infrastructure are tracked in a git repository. To ensure consistency across concurrent Terraform execution, the terraform state is persisted in a Scaleway Database PostgreSQL managed instance. For that, we used the pg backend in Terraform. These constitute the infrastructure of ensemble. Now we are going to complete this Terraform module by enabling those instances to serve our application. When creating an instance, you have to select or create an image.

In each cloud deployment, instances are booted with a specific cloud image that is designed to meet the specific requirements of the instance. First, we created a base image called base, which was the starting point for all the others.

From the base image, we then created a Jitsi image using the official docker compose distribution: docker-jitsi-meet. We also added an Nginx Prometheus exporter on docker-jitsi-meet docker-compose for monitoring purposes. When a Jitsi instance boots with this image, a docker-compose will start and the Jitsi server which is running as a container will automatically start working as well.

Note that the base and Jitsi images are created with Ansible playbooks. It allows to easily recreate images when needed. Finally, we created a front container image which gathers the web application code React and the API code Node. This image will run inside containers that docker-compose will pull from a private Scaleway registry. However, we needed to be able to deploy new versions of our applications without rebooting an instance with a new image.

As a result, we decoupled the base image from the application that was containerized. The API and the React website which are bundled in the same container image are hosted on a Scaleway private registry. Once stored on the registry, images can be pulled in the instance by the docker daemon controlled by docker-compose to run the application. That comes in very handy when we need to deploy a new version of our API after a bug fix or a feature enhancement as we only need to push the new container image to the registry and tell docker-compose to use the new version.

Now that our applications are deployed, let's see how we can make our API server reliable using a Load Balancer. Load Balancers are highly available and fully-managed instances that allow to distribute the workload among your various services. They ensure the scaling of all your applications while securing their continuous availability, even in the event of heavy traffic. Load Balancers are built to use an Internet-facing front-end server to shuttle information to and from backend servers.

They provide a dedicated public IP address and forward requests automatically to one of the backend servers based on resource availability. In the context of Jitsi, we used our Load Balancer to automatically forward requests to our API servers based on resource availability. Our API servers are the ones providing information about the current load of each Jitsi sever to ensure that the user is provided with the most available instance.Helm helps you manage Kubernetes applications — Helm Charts help you define, install, and upgrade even the most complex Kubernetes application.

Charts are easy to create, version, share, and publish — so start using Helm and stop the copy-and-paste. Charts describe even the most complex apps, provide repeatable application installation, and serve as a single point of authority. Install Helm with a package manager, or download a binary.

Once installed, unpack the helm binary and add it to your PATH and you are good to go! Check the docs for further installation and usage instructions. Sign in to your account. Is there any plan to merge this PR. It's open since more than one month. Maybe adding more contributors would help to speed up the process. It seems I might have to follow this example inorder to get it to work but seems way more complicated that I want it to be.

For example, deploying these yaml-files to Google Cloud Engine, I'll have to ssh into each container to tweak settings. There's gotta be a better way of doing it. Have you publish your own docker images with appropriate settings so you don't have to ssh into each container to tweak?

No communication seem to be possible. Been looking at Firewall settings but all seems good. So another specific setting somewhere I am missing somewhere. Note: I'm refactoring my configs right now so that I don't have to change the original files anymore. I did it before but it was not the cleanest solution.
